What You'll Do …

The OBDII Technology Lead is the architect of our firmware and cloud vehicle telematics solutions and the bridge to connecting our customers’ needs. You are a conduit between product development, customer satisfaction and sales. You will have a broad range of responsibilities related to device and firmware implementation, testing & validation, installation best practices and pre- & post-sales support.

  • Define strategy, product roadmap and technical/feature specifications for new products based on product vision, customer needs, technical and market trends and platform capabilities aligned with a profitable product P&L
  • Interface with customer technical staff to gather requirements for application development
  • Provide pre- & post-sales technical support, and assist in formulating the product specifications to meet customers’ needs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve device and services reported failures
  • Report, track and escalate anomalies discovered during testing and ensure closure on the issues. Help teams use results to drive continuous improvement upstream
  • Train and mentor local and remote team members on installation, troubleshooting and resolution best practices
  • Quickly establish rapport and build relationships with customers, business partners and team members
  • Describe & demonstrate software products and technologies effectively to audiences of varied technical knowledge
  • Support customer field returns and complaints
  • Prepared to jump in wherever there is a gap so solve some of the most complex product and customer requirements
  • Provide effective problem solving and troubleshooting skills in the field
  • Understand and define customer’s technical and commercial requirements
  • Work closely with sales team on new account development and expand the company’s product base at existing accounts
  • Contribute to technical application notes, product documentation and user guides
  • Provide technical support on company’s product portfolio
  • Assist customer with integration activities, ramp-up and support them directly with any issues

Requirements

What Does Success Look Like to You:

  • Your ability to communicate technical information at the customer level combined with your exceptional listening skills to hear and understand their needs, will allow you to interract directly with our customers to sell our capabilities and keep the customers safer, one device at a time.
  • Your expanding knowledge of heavy duty and light duty vehicle bus technologies and industry standard analysis tools will allow you to reverse engineer top desired parameters on 50 new vehicles per month, expanding the quality of our library to the point that allow us to serve vehicle OEMs directly.
  • Your ability to understand the technology from the lowest physical and data layer to firmware, transport and cloud layers, will allow you to work with firmware teams to plan for firmware compatibility with new generations of vehicles, i.e. electric trucks and new protocols, as well as work with firmware and cloud teams on creating tools for remote and automated reverse engineering.
  • You are able to quickly analyze and grasp the architecture of a customer specific application, and advise on technical possibilities that result in 2x closed sales
  • Able to travel to customer sites, both domestic and international as required (up to 50% domestic)

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or any other technical function or equivalent experience that enables you to understand technical requirements
  • Knowledge and ability to use important automotive and electronic test and diagnostic equipment including CAN monitoring tools
  • 10+ years of experience:

      o 7+ years reading and interpreting CAN / OBDII data

      o 5 years directly related to automotive or vehicle telematics products working with software and

            electrical engineering teams, sales, and external vendors

      o 5+ years with GPS trackers (e.g. Xirgo, Calamp, Geotab or similar, is a major plus)

  • Experienced with Agile processes and Jira.
  • Experienced with hardware development cycle
  • Knowledge with testing GPS, GSM, CDMA/EvDO and LTE technologies
  • Working-level knowledge of IT infrastructures, and the aptitude to advance to expert level
  • Superior customer interaction skills

Nice to have:

  • Master’s degree or MBA
  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment such as digital multi-meters (DMM), signal generators and scopes
  • Using a DMM to measure voltage (AC and DC), low current (10a) measurements and what the expected normal results would be
  • Knowledge of electronic components such as automotive SPDT relays, silicon diodes, resistors, and switches as well as the application of them in aftermarket installations
  • Understanding of schematic representations as well as how to apply them in aftermarket installations where they are required.
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with Google Maps
